Welcome

Like in many professions, education has many "buzz words"--what's up and coming. The newest phrase is "21st Century Skills." How are we, as educators, going to teach and prepare our students for a world that is constantly changing with the progress of technology? I have always been a big proponent of the use of technology in the classroom. In 2002, I designed, hosted, and managed my first classroom website. The purpose was to allow parents to keep updated on classroom events and get a glimpse into our day-to-day happenings. Shortly later, Milford launched Edline for teachers to use. The main purpose of this launch was to allow parents to view grades online. In addition to grades, Edline hosts links, calendar events, and newsletters.
Now we are in a world of twitter, blogging, and skype--instant communication. The opportunities for student learning are endless! I love our classroom website and my goal is to keep it updated. However, I feel that this blog will give our classroom a "voice." I hope you will follow us on our journey to grow as a community of learners.
